Our Little Patch...The beginning

We are David and Anne-Marie and we are building our first home together.  David is in I.T Sales and AM is a Nurse.  We decided to buy a house in a few years after we had paid off our cars and had a decent amount of savings.  We got married this year and the day we came home from our wedding we found a little block of land in an area we love, with a fantastic 'backyard'.  After months (Literally months) of driving past and walking past the block, we finally reached the decision to chat to our broker.  Yep, no rushing here!  The time line went something like this:

July 23 2011  - Got married

July 24 2011  - Found our block on the net, realised it backed the parkland I loved.  Looked at display houses and David fell in love with Plantation Homes.  

August  2011 - AM didn't like the builder and David didn't like the land so we kept dreaming.  And discussing in marital bliss.

September 2011 - Thought about money.  And land.  And houses.  And money and THAT land and THAT house.  Met with the BEST broker in the World.  Got pre-approval and decided to bargain on the land.  How hard could it be???  So we put in our first offer, 50k less than the asking price.  So we knew the answer would go something like this: "BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

We were surprised when the answer went more like this "LOL.  We'll drop 22.5k"   Wow!  Great but seriously can we round this up to 25k and we're happy?? "No".  And that was that, we had a contract to buy THAT land!

October 2011 - Back to THAT house.  Anne-Marie had the land she wanted and actually liked THAT house, so after several chats with THAT builder it was agreed.  We put a deposit on THAT house for THAT block and we are now building OUR HOME!!!!!
