Ploughing through!

 Friday 27 July 2012

Ground has been scraped, a large mound of dirt sits at the back of the block.
The site supervisor Aaron called to introduce himself.  I was busy doing tax (to get the refund to pay the builder!) and missed his call. Bugger!  But he called Dave instead (bugger!) and (amongst other important info i'll never now know of) he informed us the block had been scraped (we knew that bit) and the mound of dirt (about 5m3) was ours to move. If we leave the dirt there we won't get it out when the house is up because there won't be enough side access.  We need to move it by Wednesday when David tells me he said the slab will be pegged.  The other issue was the un-scraped bit was overgrown and weedy.

Saturday 28 July 2012

First thing Saturday morning i'm back on site to contemplate this massive mound of dirt.  So after sitting on the mound for 30 minutes, watching the kids play and thinking about my options (as in, thinking I don't even know where to atart with what options even exist), I email a bobcat guy from the top of the mound.

About 5pm I get a call from Bobcat Terry who says he is heading out to buy dinner, he'll stop past the block and give me a call when he gets there.  Being that our block is 500m from our current house we say we will meet him there.  Can you believe a tradie calling on a Saturday arvo?!  He discusses what he thinks we could do, we shake on a price and he says it can possibly do it by Wednesday if we pay Monday.

Lunch time I get a call from Bobcat Terrywho says the job is done, he nicked in this morning (on a SUNDAY!!) and knocked over the task!!!  It looks amazing!!!!!

BUT........
As previously suspected, next doors fence is way way on our land, by about 30cm.  Doesn't sound like much you say, but when we have a 12.5m wide frontage and a 10.5 m house we won't have much room for error.

Fingers crossed for a continuation of this pace!  LOVE LOVE LOVE daily progress!!

Building crew prepare block for take off.

JULY, 2012

A few weeks ago we finally had the bank and the builder working in harmony and we were told they would start on site ASAP.  BUT.....the pegs were missing from the block!!  After two weeks with the surveyor (and a massive dip into our savings), we had new pegs....

Boundary pegs
Cost about as much as our car.

HOUSTON, WE HAVE LIFT OFF!

A year and a day since we found our little patch of dirt, we have progress with our site scrape and cut.  It's about bloody time!

Front of block, Elevation A - they even cut the driveway for us!

Very large pile of dirt at the rear of the property
